While the latest reports continue to forecast slow job growth throughout the region and across the country, one Baltimore employer keeps adding to its staff. Planit, a Baltimore-based communications, marketing, and interactive agency, recently hired Melissa Franko as account supervisor, Ross Hollebon as project manager/producer, and Jason Losover as digital marketing strategist.

“We are excited to add Melissa, Ross, and Jason to our ever-expanding team of creative professionals here at Planit,” said Matt Doud, president of Planit. “Our agency has been fortunate enough to land several new accounts this year, which in part has been a result of the increased national visibility we received from being named a Small Agency of the Year by Advertising Age. We look forward to continuing to grow our staff as our company brings in new business, and we’re excited to deliver top-notch work and cutting-edge campaigns for our clients as we move into 2012.”

As account supervisor, Melissa Franko will actively contribute to the overall growth of the agency by being the face of Planit both inside the agency and out. She will play a proactive role within the account management team—from helping to establish and implement best-in-class processes and protocol around workflow and project management to improved documentation, procedures, and accountability for delivering on client expectations. Prior to joining Planit, Franko was the marketing manager at Annapolis-based The Squires Group, Inc. Over the course of her marketing career, she has worked with clients that have included Big Steaks Management, National Chicken Council, The Brick Companies, Atlantic Golf, Mitsubishi International, Arundel Habitat for Humanity, and Hispanic Heritage Awards.

As project manager/producer for Planit’s interactive team and senior member of the account management team, Ross Hollebon’s responsibilities include leading requirements definition, solution analysis, information architecture strategy, IA implementation, and usability and quality assurance testing. He will play a key role in managing expectations and relationships across project life cycles and beyond while incorporating a strong results-oriented mentality to help measure success and create positive ROI for clients and Planit. Hollebon has had various media roles in the NFL for the past 13 years. His former client roster includes high-profile organizations such as US Soccer, ATP World Tour, ESPNRISE, USA Swimming, International Speedway Corp., Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons, Seattle Seahawks, and NFL International. Prior to joining Planit, Hollebon served as senior solutions architect and web producer for Immersion Active in Frederick, Md.

Jason Losover joins Planit as a digital marketing strategist, a role that involves developing and implementing comprehensive online marketing campaigns to help clients grow their business. His specialties include search engine marketing, email marketing, online marketing analytics, and website development. He comes to Planit from Hunt Valley–based Calvert Education Services, where he served as web marketing strategist.

“We are excited to welcome Brittany, Jason, and Amber as members of the Planit team,” said Matt Doud, president of Planit. “As an agency, we live by the philosophy that you are only as good as the talent you bring on board, and we have nothing but the best here. Our talented team continues to develop award-winning strategic and creative campaigns for our clients that have earned our firm national acclaim, as was just made evident by being named an Ad Age Small Agency of the Year.”

As interactive designer, Barr’s responsibilities include the design and development of websites, blogs, banner ads, and more for Planit’s clients. In his role as art director at Planit, Drumheller will be concepting, designing, and producing visual design solutions for a wide range of identity, print, and web projects. He will also be responsible for the selection and art direction of photographers and illustrators, and on-press supervision. Whether working on a logo or an integrated branding campaign — Drumheller consistently delivers conceptual, focused solutions that distinguish his work and satisfy his clients. He joins Planit from Owings Mills–based MGH, Inc. where he served as senior art director and worked with clients that included the Baltimore Ravens; Baltimore Symphony Orchestra; Calvert School; Eddie’s of Roland Park; Maryland Film Festival; Ocean City, Maryland Department of Tourism; Texas Instruments; Towson University; University of Maryland, University College; and Utz Snack Foods. –Nationally Renowned Trade Publication Recognizes Planit as the Best Small Agency in Southeast Region–

Baltimore, Md. (August 2, 2011) Planit puts Baltimore on the map yet again with its recent national award win. Ad Age named Planit the Winner of the Southeast Region at its annual Small Agency Conference Awards in Denver, Colo., on Thursday, July 28. Hundreds of entries were submitted from agencies across the U.S. and Canada, as well as from 20 other countries. The competition was based on a number of criteria including Thought Leadership, Portfolio, Business Results and Agency Culture. Judging was determined by editorial staff from both Ad Age and Creativity.

“We are extremely proud to be recognized as a Small Agency of the Year by such a prominent and globally recognized industry publication,” commented Matt Doud, president of Planit. “We set out to grow beyond Baltimore and the mid-Atlantic, and this recognition is proof positive that Planit is becoming an agency player on a national stage.”

Not many agencies Planit’s size can boast the types of successes it achieved this year. Some of those milestones include creating a site celebrating Fila’s 100th year and launching an Israeli wine offline, online, socially and virally. Under Armour chose the agency to help introduce a new technology to the NFL Combine. Planit developed digital games on Facebook (that thousands of people actually played) for McCormick and helped solidify Marriott’s place as the 7th largest e-commerce site in the world. That’s right, the world. Planit’s been on an amazing run with no reason to believe that that will change anytime soon.

“The national and global clients that select us know that great work and creativity is the disruptive advantage needed to move their businesses,” commented Ed Callahan, co-founder of Planit. “We are looking forward to continuing to expand our client base with this awareness of Planit.”

Profiles of the winning agencies will run in the August 8 print edition of Ad Age as well as online. Ad Age is an industry-leading trade publication that provides communications, advertising and marketing professionals with media updates, account developments, campaign reviews and current trends.

–Planit Wins AMA Marketing Excellence Award for “Best Local Campaign”–

Baltimore, Md. (June 10, 2011)—Planit, a Baltimore-based marketing and communications agency, today announces it has won the Marketing Excellence Award for “Best Local Campaign” by the American Marketing Association (AMA) of Baltimore for their 2010 interactive campaign for Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley. The AMA Marketing Excellence Award is given each year to a company or agency that plans and implements the best local marketing campaign. While Planit is often recognized for its creative expertise, this award credits Planit’s ability to execute strategic and results-oriented campaigns.

“Being recognized by the AMA is the icing on the cake after crafting and implementing a strategy that helped our client win the ultimate prize,” said Matt Doud, president of Planit. “In order for our campaign efforts to be a success, it was critical for us to show Marylanders what O’Malley had accomplished, while articulating these undertakings with a warm and personal tone rather than in a heavy political manner like many politicians exhibit today. As a thought leader in this integrated space, we look forward to continuing to execute top-notch strategy and cutting-edge creativity, both offline and on.”

Planit was approached by Governor O’Malley’s reelection campaign group to aid in achieving an “out of the box” campaign that included a stronger message, bolder web presence, and a unified social media presence. This project was a first for Planit, as the company had never been involved in the cutthroat world of politics; however, the firm embraced the challenge and opportunity. Focusing on the successes of the governor’s past term and his “Moving Maryland Forward” platform, Planit-created a sub-theme of “Connections” to humanize the governor’s accomplishments and bolster his public image in hopes of winning key voters.

The campaign results speak for themselves. Planit built an exceptionally creative and functionally successful campaign, developing more modern and creative outlets for online media. The campaign increased website traffic by 200% and page views by 300% while doubling Facebook fans and tripling Twitter followers. The result of these successes online aided Governor O’Malley in securing his second term as governor of Maryland.
