Baltimore, Md. – December 7, 2004 – A special issue of Entrepreneur magazine, devoted entirely to eBay, calls the auction site “the most explosive opportunity for retailers ever.” In June, Business Week announced that “430,000 people make their living on eBay.” With sales of $8 billion in the second quarter of 2004 and more than 29 million items for sale, eBay clearly isn’t just for t-shirts and online garage sales any more.
Auction Safari, an eBay brokerage certified to recruit and support independent brokers in their effort to open eBay businesses, has selected Planit, Inc., the integrated brand communications agency, for brand building, including logo development, creation of the retail identity, and print advertising.
“We chose Planit for their branding expertise and their team’s experience in the retail segment,” said Ronald L. Bratt, Auction Safari principal. “We like the way the agency creates buzz.”
Auction Safari moved into their 8,400 square foot facility in Columbia, Maryland in November. Auction Safari began advertising to recruit brokers in Maryland in November. Brokers will be provided with training and other support, as well as office and warehouse space. Auction Safari is also holding training courses for anyone interested in becoming an Auction Safari/eBay broker.
“We’re thrilled to have this opportunity to bring cutting-edge ideas to cutting-edge technology,” said Matt Doud, president and co-founder of Planit. “We plan to create a magnetic brand image for Auction Safari that will capture the excitement and potential of the online retail auction phenomenon.”
