Baltimore, Md. – March 29, 2007 – Planit, the Baltimore-based marketing communications agency, announced today that it has been named agency of record for Downtown Partnership of Baltimore.

Planit will work with the organization on creative initiatives aimed at continuing the quest to make Baltimore’s Downtown a more vibrant and enjoyable place for people to live, work, shop and dine.

When Downtown Partnership initially approached Planit, it was to discuss advertising and creative services for the non-profit, said Planit President and Co-founder Matt Doud. “However, as we began to dig into the organization, we encouraged them to step back, setting aside for a moment all the initiatives they run, and to refocus on what the organization is looking to accomplish,” said Doud.

This resonated with Downtown Partnership Vice President of Marketing David Carrodine.

One of the organization’s main objectives involves continuing to attract national retailers, restaurants and businesses such as Microsoft, to the Downtown area. As Downtown Partnership’s agency of record, Planit will help the organization better engage the leaders of this hugely influential community.

“Building a more vibrant downtown area means reaching out to a broad range of distinctive audiences, and being very targeted in how we communicate to each of them, including our influential business community,” said Carrodine.

“Downtown is recognized as the region’s leading business destination. We want to show how it is evolving into a more diverse set of neighborhoods with young professionals, families raising children, and empty nesters all enjoying the benefits of Downtown living,” he added. “We chose Planit largely for what they can do to help us ensure that not only our programs but our strategy accurately reflects this.”

Planit will assist Downtown Partnership with strategy as well as creative execution of promotions and campaigns, including Kids Month, targeting families; and Restaurant Week, targeting young professionals and empty nesters.
