Director of Human Resources

And those employees are the core of our success. So, Planit’s Director of Human Resources’s primary goal is to develop and implement the people strategy for Planit in alignment with agency goals. This role sits on the Sr. Leadership team and champions initiatives that support the business in our fast-paced and fun culture of engaged and diverse employees. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops and communicates HR goals, objectives, and programs with a focus on culture, employee engagement, retention, and business growth
  • Plans and manages all HR processes and activities
  • Oversees payroll and compliance; ensures overall agency compliance with all relevant laws
  • Establishes trust with employees, managers and Sr. Leadership; coaches and advises
  • Leads the Compensation Committee: comp strategy, ranges, incentives and internal growth
  • Leads strategy for employee benefits including 401(k), in conjunction with brokers and advisors
  • Workforce planning, job description development, and recruiting via Linkedin, in partnership with hiring managers
  • Directs the interview, offer and onboarding processes for new employees
  • Leads and educates others on performance management tools and 360 annual review process, working directly with Sr. Leadership and managers on all employee relations issues
  • Provides manager training and facilitates staff development opportunities for new and existing employees in conjunction with Sr. Leadership
  • Leads and facilitates Planit’s Mentorship Program
  • Leads our Culture Committee to create meaningful initiatives and events that facilitate connection and employee engagement
  • Connects regularly with our network of national agency partners on agency trends, processes, data and administration of our annual Gallup Engagement Survey; works with Sr. Leadership on Gallup action plans
  • Serves as a member of Planit’s DE&I Team
  • Leads Internship program with support from department Director(s) and Intern Manager(s)
  • Manages Planit’s pandemic transition plans and hybrid workforce
  • Creation of effective policies in collaboration with ownership and Sr. Leadership
  • Risk and insurance administration
  • Supervises HR Generalist, who manages HRIS, Payroll, Benefits processes and systems, invoices, event preparation and purchasing, job postings, candidate screening, and more
  • Additional responsibilities as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business/management or other related field and 8 years of Human Resources experience
  • Experience in an HR manager role or higher to confidently drive initiatives and motivate others
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable speaking in front of a group, presenting at quarterly Agency meetings
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a focus on respectfulness and confidentiality
  • Strong ability to provide sound and complete recommendations 
  • Proven track record of successful employee program implementation
  • Effectively manages ambiguity and supports creative solutions for a fast-paced creative environment
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and thrive in an ever-changing environment
  • Current knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret outside compliance resources, HR reports, and internal documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the advertising community
  • Professional in Human Resources (SHRM-CP) or HRCI (PHR) certification desired
  • Comfortable networking and recruiting via Linkedin and social channels
  • Strong experience with spreadsheets and word documents (Google-based)
  • HR Systems experience a plus: Paylocity, 15Five, WordPress (in-house ATS), Advantage
  • This role is hybrid, with occasional vendor or internal meetings onsite with advance notice — must be willing to reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work
