An Open Letter to Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift: The Baltimore Era in purple at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD

Why You Should Drop the Chiefs and Root for the Ravens

Dear John Taylor,

We’re looking forward to your visit this weekend. You just missed an unusual snowstorm, though the last couple of months at Arrowhead Stadium have certainly prepared you for that.

We thought we’d reach out to remind you that in addition to M&T Bank Stadium’s warmer weather, the surrounding Baltimore City and greater state of Maryland has a lot to offer. Rinse the burgundy out of that t-shirt and consider dropping the Chiefs to root for the Ravens.

Here’s why!

You ate at my favorite spot for dinner – and my other favorite spot for breakfast, and my third favorite spot for lunch.
Baltimore may be famous for its crabcakes (and football, re: this letter), but did you know it’s also a top destination for all kinds of foodies? The vibrant food scene in Baltimore includes waterfront dining, unique and emerging food trucks, James Beard-award-winning chefs, bartenders, and restaurants – and you can’t forget about the less-ubiquitous, but still delicious seafood – oysters.

Down the block there’s an antique shop – but not that block, we mean the Avenue.
There’s a reason they call it Smalltimore! Among Baltimore’s network of niche neighborhoods is the Hampden Historic District. It’s 36th Street, nicknamed the Avenue, is home to a number of consignment shops, thrift stores, and boutiques so you’ll never go out of style.

Are we out of the woods yet – not yet!
Baltimore is home to a network of state parks and trails starting with the 15-mile Gwynns Falls Trail right here in the city. A short distance outside of Baltimore. When you’re really seeking some solitude, you can go west to explore the mountains of Garret and Allegany counties.

Lord save me my drug is my baby – seriously, life-saving drugs and the people who administer them.
Baltimore is home to Johns Hopkins Hospital and its affiliated university. Johns Hopkins operates six academic and community hospitals, four health care and surgery centers, and more than six ambulatory centers in the greater Baltimore area, serving approximately 2.8 million patients every year! Not a bad place to be if everything you touch becomes sick with sadness (or illness!).

Like any love it drives you crazy – Old Bay is Our Bae
You’ll see it on every table from fine dining establishments to local diners to your Uncle Donnie’s in Dundalk – Old Bay. We love Old Bay so much that hundreds of us lined up at the Baltimore Tattoo Museum for free Old Bay tattoos. Don’t blame me, love made me crazy.

Do you remember all the city lights on the water? – from Locust Point to the Inner Harbor
You can see our iconic Domino Sugar sign almost anywhere around Baltimore’s waterfront. Whether you travel by water taxi, stroll around the waterfront, or cut through the tunnel, we encourage you to admire Batlimore’s bold bodies of water. Just don’t swim in them (this year).

Stay in that lavender haze – and also that other haze 😉
Last summer, Maryland officially legalized recreational cannabis. You won’t remember all the champagne problems when you opt to relax and unwind with an edible, tincture, vape, or other cannabis product from one of our local dispensaries.

So, Taylor, it’s not too late to Flock Together.
We’ll save you a seat at the Bank.

Sincerely,
Planit
